Clothing isn’t just about style - it’s a powerful language of authority, identity, and even resistance. In this eye-opening lecture, explore the rich history of fashion in politics and discover how modern leaders and iconic figures have used their wardrobes to shape public perception, communicate powerful messages, and influence society.

We will trace the journey from the elaborate attire of world leaders to the statement-making wardrobes of Jacqueline Kennedy, Princess Diana, Eva Peron, Margaret Thatcher, Queen Letizia, and Melania Trump. See how colours, accessories, and even brands become tools for diplomacy, defiance, and solidarity- whether it’s the symbolism behind Queen Elizabeth II’s brooches or the legacy of the “revenge dress.” You’ll also discover how designers like Christian Dior played unexpected roles in shaping political narratives.

In this lecture, you will learn:

  • How clothing became a central tool in political communication and power
  • The secrets behind the style choices of political fashion icons, and how you can apply them
  • The symbolism of colors, accessories, and brands in the wardrobes of modern queens and first ladies
  • How to use fashion as a statement of identity, authority, and influence
This is not just about trends. It’s about understanding how what we wear can be a statement of who we are, and how history’s most influential women have used style as a form of political and personal expression.

Featured quote:
“You know, the standard robe is made for a man, because it has a place for the shirt to show and tie, so Sandra Day O'Connor and I thought it would be appropriate if we included, as part of our robe, something typical of a woman so I have many, many collars.”
— Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Late Supreme Court Justice

Perfect for anyone interested in the intersection of style, leadership, and influence.
